KOLKATA PORT TRUST
Kolkata Port Trust intends to engage four numbers Asstt. Engineer (Elect) under Mechanical Engineering Department on contract basis on following terms and conditions:-

I. The engagement will be for a period of one year and on expiry of the said period, the contractual engagement will be automatically terminated. However, on expiry of the contract, KoPT reserves the right to enter into a fresh contract for such period and on such terms as may be mutually agreed upon.

II. Educational qualification, age and experience :-
a) Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
b) Applicant’s age as on 1st September, 2011 should not be less than 45 yrs.
c) 5 yrs. experience in a responsible post on the Executive side of the Electrical Engineering Division in an organization of repute and must have experience in construction and maintenance of HT & LT machineries, overhead and underground distribution system, workshop practice, electronics circuits, refrigeration and airconditioning, lifts etc.

III. Duties & Responsibilities :-
a) Responsible for various works pertaining to Electrical division (operation, maintenance and project work) and Direct Power Supply from CESC/WBSEDCL to KoPT.
b) Project planning, preparation of Budgets, estimation, preparation of specification of items, tendering, checking measurement of works, quality control, processing of bills and monitoring of various electrical works including air conditioning and telephone.
c) Monitoring of existing contracts for proper installation, testing & commissioning.
d) Maintenance of existing installations scattered in different locations from Sagar to Berhampur, Murshidabad.
e) Managing personnel and spares for electrical maintenance.
f) Any other job related to electrical works.

IV. The selected candidates will be paid monthly fixed consolidated remuneration at the rate of Rs. 26, 000/- .

V. The selected candidates may avail of the facility of KoPT accommodation (unfurnished) on payment of license fee/rent as applicable.

VI. The office of the selected candidates will normally be 8 No. Workshop, Mechanical Engineering Department, 8, Garden Reach Road, KoPT, Kolkata – 700 043.

VII. The candidates will be required to work full time on all working days of the office of Chief Mechanical Engineer, Kolkata Port Trust. For work on any weekly off-day /declared national holiday in exigency, the candidate will be granted a compensatory day of rest conveniently in lieu thereof and the candidate will not be entitled to any other compensation, monitory or otherwise, for the same.

VIII. The candidates will be entitled to 15 days leave in a year ((12 months from the date of engagement and proportionate in case of shorter period of engagement) which may be availed of with prior approval. For any unauthorised absence in excess of 15 days, prorata deduction will be made from the consolidated remuneration.

IX. Additional sick leave to the extent of 10 days in a year (12 months from the date of engagement and proportionate in case of shorter period of engagement) on illness may be allowed without any deduction from the remuneration on the basis of certification from KoPT’s Medical Officer. Intimation of sickness should be reported to the Head of the Deptt. /Reporting Officer forthwith in writing together with certificate of illness from a Registered Medical Practitioner in addition to verbal intimation over phone. For absence beyond the stipulated period of 10 days sick leave in a year, proportionate deduction from the remuneration will be made.

X. The selected candidates will be entitled to Indoor & Outdoor Medical facilities as are available in KoPT Centenary Hospital for self only. However, no reimbursement for medicine / medical articles purchased from outside, diagnostic test done outside or treatment receipt outside will be allowed. The restriction will not apply for treatment of any injury sustained due to accident occurred in the course of and arising out of
employment.

XI. If the candidates are required to go on official tour outside Head Quarters, they will be entitled to TA/DA as applicable to corresponding regular post of Asstt. Engineer.

XII. The candidates will report to Sr. Executive Engineer (Elect)/Project Engineer (Elect) under Chief Mechanical Engineer.

XIII. The selected candidates will be responsible for the charge & care of KoPT’s money, goods & stores and all other property that may be entrusted on them and they will be accountable for the same.

XIV. The engagement of the selected candidates may also be terminated by giving one month’s notice from either side. However, the engagement is terminable on 24 hrs.
notice for unsatisfactory performance and for any act considered to be derogatory /detrimental to interest of KoPT.

XV) The selected candidates will have to furnish requisite information for antecedent verification by the local police station of their place of residences.

The last date for receipt of application is 16th September, 2011. Incomplete application or application receipt after 16th September, 2011 will not be entertained. Applicants are advised to check this website for eligibility, date of interview, result etc.
